Your Western Card

Eligibility

All students registered for the current academic quarter are eligible to receive a Western Card. Your photo may be used for university identification purposes other than your Western Card- for example, on course rosters. 

Most currently enrolled students and employees are eligible for a Western Card. If you have questions regarding eligibility, please contact us. 

 

WWU Students

All students registered for the current academic quarter are eligible to receive a Western Card. Your photo may be used for University identification purposes other than your Western Card– for example, on course rosters.

Faculty & Staff

Current WWU faculty & staff are eligible to receive a Western Card, and may be issued their card at the card office as soon as their first day of employment.

WCC Students

Whatcom Community College students living on Western’s campus are not eligible for a Western Card. However, if you have purchased a meal plan with WWU, you are eligible for a Dining Card from our office.

Western Card Privileges

Your Western Card can be used at the following areas across campus and beyond: 

ATUS

Printing and equipment check out. 

Library

Checking out books and materials. 

Wade King Rec Center

Access the Rec Center and check out equipment with your Western Card. 

Lakewood Boathouse

Use your Western Card to check out boathouse equipment.

Dining

Your Western Card gives you access to the dinning halls across campus. 

Viking Dollars

Add, store, and use Viking Dollars at all campus dining locations and retail venues with your Western Card. For more information, log in to the Viking Dollars page.

Bus Pass

Your plastic Western Card is your bus pass, and grants you access to the WTA and Skagit Transit bus systems. To be eligible, students must pay the Active Transportation Fee or "opt-in" with Transportation Services

At this time, mobile Western Cards will not work as a bus pass. We are in the process of integrating the mobile Western Cards with the Whatcom Transit Authority, and hope to make this service available to your soon. Until then, please retain your plastic Western Card to use as your bus pass.
